Chatfield Farms Wedding, Denver, Colorado

How do you feel about celebrating your love in the scenic gardens of Colorado? Feeling the chill air flow through your hair and having the mesmerizing vistas serve as a backdrop. Well, this is exactly what Jerusha and Spencer wanted at their wedding celebration, which took place in one of the most stunning venues in the area!

Jerusha and Spencer’s Wedding Day

I’ve looked forward to this day the second Jerusha reached out asking me to be her wedding photographer! I actually have known the bride since we were little kids, so getting to photograph her wedding day was an absolute honor. The day before the wedding, I went to look at the venue and scout out the best areas for photos. Let’s just say, I was absolutely blown away by the enchanting Chatfield Farms Botanical Garden in Denver, Colorado. Expanding on 700 acres of native plant farm on the banks of Deer Creek, this venue provides the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for an outdoor wedding. Yes with outdoor weddings you do have the chance of bad weather, BUT that is a risk worth taking when you get beautiful gardens as your backdrop. We mayyyyyy have witnessed rainfall several times throughout the length of the event but having the ceremony outside was honestly so worth it!

We started the day capturing the guys getting ready in the yurt, then photographing the girls in one of the stunningly-white cottages. Before the day even started the skies were clear and there was no chance of rain. Then all of a sudden a massive rain cloud covered the area. We all prayed in the hope that the rain would go away and we went on with the day. Jerusha did her portraits with all her bridesmaids in front of the cottage with adorable white umbrellas and Spencer did his in front of the yurt with his groomsmen. Then, right before the ceremony, the rain came. Jerusha and Spencer had scheduled a first touch and prayer before the ceremony. We decided to give them their moment and hopefully the rain would soon pass. Well, God answered our prayers!! It stopped just in time for them to be able to hold their ceremony outside, which was filled with such genuine and emotional moments. We even got the chance to do couple and wedding party portraits in the garden, just before the sun was about to set. The night went on with dinner and lots of dancing before the rain started falling again- just when the reception ended! It was as if God timed everything just perfectly so Jerusha and Spencer could have the most beautiful day.

Aside from the unpredictable weather, some of my favorite moments were:

  1. Watching the bridesmaids make their bouquets
  2. The bride and groom having a prayer together before the ceremony
  3. Jerusha taking a shot of bourbon with her dad before walking down the aisle
  4. Seeing Spencer beam with happiness as he saw his bride for the first time walking down the aisle
  5. Watching all the guests absolutely light it up on the dance floor!
